New Studio - New Classes!

At long last the new studio is open at 12405 NE 8th Ct in Vancouver, WA! With a lot of help from my "Painted Ladies" painting the walls, celing and floors, putting in a sink unit, some great lighting, new tables and chairs, storage and a work bench or two we are up and running!

Sorry if you missed the Open House on Sunday, Nov. 8th. Nice turn out, plenty of good food, wine and great company. My art was all on display and I sold a couple of paintings. All in all, a great day!

The first week of new classes held in the new studio were terrific. I now have a Monday evening class, a Tuesday evening class and a Friday morning class going through the holidays. We are working on some fantastic new paintings and one very fun workshop where we'll be doing a collaborative painting (where everyon paints a seperate section of a painting and then we hang it all together!)

Mixed Media Collage classes are also in the works and something I'm calling a "Paper Tapestry". A collage scroll on gessoed watercolor paper complete with imbedded stones, chinese coins, metallics, caligraphy, stamped art, and textures! Great fun and beautiful finished!

January classes are taking reservations now, and it looks like the Tuesday evening class may already be full! There is space for 8 in each class, and the Friday morning class is filling up fast as well...so if you want to join in the fun, sign up soon. Your paid session holds your spot!

Summer Painting

This summer, our Plein Air Group - The Painted Ladies (a few gents too!) - painted in so many beautiful spots! Lavender Fields, the Beach, The Chinese Garden, Bethany Vineyards, and with each other in the studio! It has been a glorious summer of painting, and it culminates in a great show throughout the month of September at East Fork Cellars in Ridgefield.

Opening night was fun and exciting with free wine tastings, art demonstrations, great jazz played by Jeff Waddell and his fantastic take on soft jazz, and a delicously yummy spread of food and nibbles supplied by Stacey! The tasting room sported two rooms full of art, flowers - both painted and fresh! We had a good turn out, and all of the artists were there to talk about their art, their process, and their struggles as well as their successes! All in All a fantastic night!

Celebrate the arts this Summer with a plein air art workshop in Lincoln City, Oregon as Visual Voyages hosts a two-day painting workshop in conjuction with

Lincoln City's ART SEA FESTIVAL

The weekend will begin with check-in at Road's End Beach House in Lincoln City on Friday evening, June 12th after 6:00 PM where you will be met by our workshop coordinator, Sharon Whyte. The evening will be spent getting to know each other over a welcoming wine and cheese tasting.

Saturday: After a continental breakfast, and a lesson on the deck of the beach house in the morning, we will stake out our favorite plein air spots on the beach for a day of painting and fun during the Art Sea Festival. Painters can purchase picnic lunches on the beach from local street vendors, or relax over a gourmet lunch served on the boardwalk in the Historic Taft district, right on the waterfront.

Simultaneously, Lincoln City's outdoor street fair will be happening all around us! The Festival includes vendors from across the Pacific Northwest, music, food, sidewalk painting, and many of the Northwest's Plein Artists will be available for a "Quick Draw" contest on Saturday, June 13th. Join in the contest, or paint the day away with Sharon's demonstrations and suggestions - or a combination of both!

Find a Float On the Beach - Sponsored by Finders Keepers - or watch a glass blowing demonstration!

Later, we will join Lincoln City's "Gallery Hop", enjoy local wines, and enjoy a seafood cooking demonstration by Lee Gray, the Wild Gourmet, at the NW 15th Street Beach Access.

Sunday: After a refreshing breakfast at our beach house, we will have a lesson on the deck before checking out at 11:00 AM, but again hit the beach for our second day of painting. Sharon will do an informal critic of day one's paintings. The afternoon will be devoted to a second painting, guided by Sharon with a demonstration of how to take pictures of your finished work.

Leaving happily sunburned and art-satisfied at the end of the afternoon, we will leave in time to get everyone home by dark!

Workshop Fees are $100 plus the cost of your accommodations. Continental Breakfasts, Wine and Cheese Reception, and some supplies are included.

Call Sharon for more details. 360-721-1621
